A New Beginning ... Dunwoody AcademyDunwoody Academy is a new charter school in north Minneapolis, sponsored by Dunwoody College of Technology, which will open its doors to students beginning in the fall of 2007. Expanding on the values and philosophy of William Hood Dunwoody, the purpose of this school is to provide high school aged students with a seamless pathway to higher education, well paying jobs, career opportunities and entrepreneurship. Dunwoody Academy will not only provide students with opportunities for individual prosperity, but will also become a system of education to produce valuable contributors to the knowledge economy.Dunwoody Academy will be located in a facility with two other schools at 1300 Olson Memorial Highway in north Minneapolis. Although a separate entity, Dunwoody Academy will share this facility with Seed Academy and Harvest Prep. The space occupied by Dunwoody Academy is approximately 25,000 sq. ft. in size and will accommodate approximately 300 students. This facility has expansion space available to increase capacity to accommodate up to 450 students. Vision To establish a best-in-class charter school that will encourage, prepare and enable youth of Minneapolis and St. Paul to realize their economic aspirations and to secure viable employment through enrollment at an accredited technical college and/or immediate employment upon graduation in jobs with outstanding career opportunities. Mission To provide a rigorous, industry-oriented education to inner-city youth of Minneapolis and St. Paul to prepare them for admission to and successful degree completion from an accredited technical college.
